Cost recovery · United States
Legal process costs you.
Now you get it back.
Federal and state statutes let you charge law enforcement for the cost of responding to legal process. Most companies never do, because raising and chasing a $45 invoice across two thousand agencies is nobody's job. Kodex issues the invoices, collects the money, and handles the agencies that argue. On your volume, here's what that's worth against running it in-house.

Your fee schedule is your decision, so it is the same in both columns. Running it yourself keeps every dollar you collect, which is a real advantage. What you take on is the collection rate and the hours.
The bet, stated plainly
Run it in-house and you need to collect better than for it to pay off. Across 18,040 invoices our platform average is 46.8%, and our best-performing account reaches 59.5%. We think you would land near 45% without agency vendor registrations and someone chasing payment. If you think you would beat , do it yourself.
What this was built on
How it works
You set a rate card. We do the rest.
One rate per legal process type, on your own company profile, so agencies see it before they submit.
When your analyst completes a request, the invoice goes out automatically against your card. Nothing to remember, nothing to raise by hand.
We are the registered vendor with the agencies. Payment forms, supplier setup, follow-ups and disputes come to us instead of landing on your analysts.
Applied against your next bill, or paid across separately if your finance team prefers it that way.
Time to first dollar
Days from going live to first payment received, across three launches this year. No integration project sits between you and the first payment.
We never send an invoice on child exploitation material. Emergency requests, freezing orders, trafficking and terrorism are commonly excluded too, and you set that list during onboarding.
We invoice and collect passively. Producing data is never conditioned on payment, and an agency that declines to pay still gets its response.
Billing questions route to Kodex. Your analysts keep closed requests closed.
Kodex keeps 30% of what we collect. Every figure in this report is net of it.

The one number that is a forecast
This model assumes of invoiced amounts get collected. That is ahead of where we are today. Across 18,040 invoices we currently collect 46.8%, and our best-performing account reaches 59.5%. The figure reflects billing work now underway, chiefly automatic completion of agency payment forms and getting the right billing contact on the invoice first time. We would rather show you the number we are building toward and tell you it is a forecast than quote today's number and call it a promise.
No company publishes what it recovers, so there is no industry collection rate to cite. We have assumed you would reach 45%, just under our own measured 46.8%, on the basis that our average already includes agency registrations and active collection that an in-house programme would be building from scratch.
Stored Communications Act §2706 for US legal process. Recovery outside the US is permitted in a minority of jurisdictions and is excluded here.
Our strongest performer recovers just over half its Kodex contract this way. Nobody recovers all of it, and we will not tell you otherwise.
A rate card and a switch. No integration and no engineering time. Customers who went live this year saw their first payment inside a week.
